People Who Use Drugus (PWUD) Support
Mar 28, 2025

Drug use is often met with stigma, but at Tshepo Ya Bana, we see the person before the addiction. Our PWUD/PWID program takes a harm reduction approach, ensuring people who use drugs have access to safe practices and healthcare rather than facing neglect or abuse.
We provide harm reduction packs, including sterile needles, condoms, and lubricants, alongside counselling sessions, TB and HIV testing, wound care, and referrals to health facilities. Peer educators and navigators play a critical role in walking this journey with individuals, offering hope and trust where society often offers rejection.
Beyond healthcare, our program also focuses on advocacy and human rights. We fight against discrimination, report violations, and push for policies that protect the dignity and rights of vulnerable populations. By addressing both health and social justice, we are helping people who use drugs find safer paths and brighter futures.
We believe every person deserves a second chance at life. Our programme for People Who Use and Inject Drugs is built on love, respect, and harm reduction — not judgment. With support from the Global Fund, we walk hand-in-hand with those on the hardest roads.
Through Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST), we help reduce infections like HIV, TB, and Hepatitis, while opening doors to a better quality of life. The programme doesn’t just heal the body — it restores families, brings back trust, and helps rebuild dreams.
We aim to:
Prevent new HIV and Hepatitis infections.
Improve access to treatment and healthcare.
Break down barriers of stigma and discrimination.
Strengthen the fight for human rights and dignity for all.
Each story of recovery is proof that change is possible — and that every life matters.
