Orphans & Vulnerable Children (OVC)
May 11, 2025
When a child loses a parent to HIV & AIDS or grows up in a home where illness dominates daily life, their future can feel uncertain. At Tshepo Ya Bana, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and supported. Through our OVC program, we provide daily cooked meals and home visits that ensure no child is left behind.
Our social workers also offer psycho-social support, helping children cope with trauma, grief, and feelings of abandonment. Homework supervision gives them structure and confidence, while community activities instill a sense of belonging. By nurturing both emotional and physical well-being, we are raising children who can grow into resilient young adults capable of building a better tomorrow.
In our communities, too many children grow up without the safety, love, and resources they deserve. At Tshepo Ya Bana, we step in where others cannot — serving children who are orphaned, exposed to HIV, living with HIV-positive caregivers, or facing risks that no child should.
Our work includes:
Support groups and social behavioral Change
Warm meals through feeding schemes.
Homework assistance and educational support.
Home visits and case referrals for deeper care.
Community dialogues to fight GBV, stigma, and discrimination.
Door-to-door campaigns that bring awareness and support right to families’ homes.
Case referrals

Every day, Tshepo Ya Bana provides nutritious breakfasts and lunches to between 300–450 children, ensuring they have the energy to learn and grow. Our feeding programme currently operates at two schools — Swartkop Valley and Lesego Primary — bringing hope and nourishment to young learners.
Because every child is a seed of hope — and when watered with love, they can flourish.
